Puducherry - India

‘Puducherry’ or Pondicherry as it was popularly called is already known for its wonderful beach, its proximity to ‘Auroville’ – the unique international living community and above all- The ‘Aurobindo Ashram’. Now, you may add one more spot for your visit in case your make it to Puducherry. You would certainly love it further more in case you are a lover of birds and you love bird watching. However, you may not necessarily be an ‘Ornithologist’ just to watch the beauty of birds.

Make your way to ‘Oussudu Tank’ which measures 390 hectares located at 12 km west of Puducherry. Constructed during the Vijayanagar rule – the dynasty famous for the great king Krishnadevaraya, the place attracts around 51 different species of birds according to statistics by an NGO (Non-Governmental Organization). The Pondicherry government has declared ‘Oussudu Tank’, a sanctuary through a Government notification.
